Ethel MILNE

MILNE Ethel Annie (nee Alexander) 1908 - 2007 It is with sadness and fond memories that the grandchildren of Ethel Milne announce her peaceful passing at Ashley Cottage, Red Deer on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the age of 98 years. Ethel was born on July 22, 1908 at the family farm in Swift Current, Saskatchewan (across the road from the Research Station). Ethel lived in Swift Current for most of her life until the last few years spent in Red Deer with her grand- children. Ethel received her schooling in Swift Current with a Business Course in Calgary, Alberta. She loved working in a local Law Office. Ethel was a member of First United Church, a former member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Local Council of Women and a Life Member of the Red Cross. Ethel, who was the last remaining Pioneer of the Alexander Family, married James Milne on October 29, 1935. Their only child, Anne was born in 1936. Ethel and James owned the Milne Block for several years. Her daughter, Anne married Jim Quinn in 1959 and moved to Red Deer, where they had three children. Ethel will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Ethel leaves to mourn her loss, her grandchildren, Traci (Brian) Albert and children, Brady and Colby, Leslie (Don) Schumacher and children, Landon, Tyler, Nicholas and Douglas (Karen) and children, Makenzie, Maddi and Jordy. Ethel was predeceased by father, William Alexander (1941), her mother, Florence Alexander (1966), her husband, James Milne (1979), her only daughter, Anne Quinn (1976), a sister, Edith Alexander (1971), a brother, Ronald Alexander (2003) and son-in-law, Jim Quinn (2004). A Public Graveside Service will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The Family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Glynis, Laura and the staff of Ashley Cottage in Red Deer and to everyone who has touched our Grandma's Life.
