FERGUSON, 1925 - 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Allan 'Al' Ferguson on Sunday, February 4, 2007, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Al was born July 2, 1925 at Vegreville, Alberta. After completing school, he entered the Royal Canadian Army near the end of the Second World War. He moved to Edmonton to attend University and later became involved in the Finance and Insurance Business, a career through which he met his wife, Jean. They were married February 6, 1954 and were transferred to Red Deer in December 1954 to work and raise their family. In 1970, Al and Jean opened their own Insurance Agency appropriately named Ferguson Insurance Services. He was an active member of the Elks Club, the Legion, the United Church, President of the Optimist Club and president of C.L.U. He was also a volunteer driver for the Golden Circle. In 1979, they retired soon after moving to a farm near Markerville, Alberta. It was here that they threw many great parties with friends and family. He also enjoyed playing bridge, crib and golfing. In 1988, they moved back to Red Deer.
