Frances DAVIS

November 16, 2007

DAVIS (JAFFRAY) Frances Doreen April 8, 1934 - November 13, 2007 Her body is at rest Her spirit soars free This lady reached out, grabbed life and lived it fully. Frances passed away peacefully in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on November 13, 2007 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Frances was born in the Bentley Hospital. She was the seventh of eight children born to Morris and Clare (Vig) Holmen. She took her schooling at the Sunset Hills School and later in Bentley. Frances commenced working at the age of 15. Her first job was as a nurse's aid in the Bentley Hospital. On November 21, 1951, she married Harry Jaffray. Five children were born from this union: Rod, Gordon, Brenda, Wayne and Patsy. Frances and Harry farmed and worked at various jobs and lived in the Bentley and Rimbey areas for most of their lives. Harry died December 25, 1988. Frances held a variety of jobs during her working years- sometimes two simultaneously. A tribute to Frances' strong work ethics was her punctuality and outgoing jovial personality which have endeared her to her employers who have remained her friends for years. Frances has endured several heartaches with the untimely deaths of her daughter Brenda in 1975; husband Harry in 1988; grandson Steven Jaffray in 1992 and a son Gordon in 1998. These tragedies did not deter her from working and displaying a smiling personal demeanor. Frances retired from the work force in April 1999. On June 5, 1999, she med E.N. "Dave" Davis. A match made in Heaven and blessed by God, they often declared to which family and friends agree. They married on June 17, 2000. They lived each day to the fullest: dancing, traveling, bowling, golfing, entertaining guests, and doing volunteer work for the Rimbey Drop In Centre and at the Rimbey Hospital, striving to give back to a great community some of the support and friendship extended to them. Although their married life was much too short it was blessed with God's love and grace. Frances leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved husband Dave; daughter Patsy Fairbrother; sons Rod (Linda), Wayne (Diane) Jaffray; daughter -in-law Jane Fox as well as stepsons Tom, Bryan, Randy, Greg and Kerry Davis. She will be forever cherished by her 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud. Frances will be sadly missed by a multitude of extended family and dear friends. Frances was predeceased by her parents along with all her siblings; her sisters Anna, Fern, and Myrna and also her brothers Clifford, Andrew and Melvin Holmen. A Celebration of Frances' life will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, 4521 - 54th Ave., Rimbey, AB on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers in her memory and at Frances' request, memorial tributes may be made to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Acute Care Patients Comfort and Equipment Fund or to a charity of your choice.
