He served as a teacher and elementary school counsellor for 30 years, and was a dedicated and caring advocate for the hundreds of children he worked with over the years. He was an avid reader and believed that every day provided a new opportunity to learn and grow. Garry shared his joy of music and love of life with everyone he knew. Garry and Sandie retired in 2000, and spent the last five years travelling throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Garry was a gifted photographer and his passion for nature was captured in the pictures he took. Family and friends will remember Garry for his gentle spirit, grace, and kindness. He was lovingly devoted to his family and especially cherished the times spent with his granddaughters. Garry was comforted in his life and made strong throughout his illness by his faith, and love of God. Our family sends our deepest thanks to all who stood by us and helped us during the past difficult months. Respecting Garry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration and Remberance of Garry's life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
