WOWK, Gary It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary M. Wowk on August 24, 2004 at the age of 51 years, after a courageous battle with MS and cancer. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Cheryl, and his two sons, Brennen and Logan. Also, sharing his memories are his parents Morris and Doris Wowk of Red Deer, sister Sherolyn Dandurand and her children Ryan and Elise of Calgary, his brother-in-law Frank Kosa of Lumbey, B. C. and his daughters Elan and Andrea of Calgary, his father-in-law Bert Kuffner of Red Deer, and his brother-in-law Gary Kuffner and wife Gloria of Ottawa. Gary was predeceased by his sister Valerie Kosa and mother-in-law Loretta Kuffner. Gary was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan on August 23, l953. He grew up in Leross and later, Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan. His education began in Leross and continued on to Luther College in Regina, University of Regina and Universite de Sherbrooke in Quebec. Gary began working in London, Ontario, then Lethbridge and finally Red Deer where he enjoyed his career first as Finance Manager at Kipp Scott Pontiac Buick, and then as General Manager at Gord Scott Nissan where he thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff and customers. After his retirement, Gary was actively involved in the community volunteering for the Festival of Trees, the MS society, the Healing and Hope Campaign, and the Future Stars organization supporting at-risk youth. Gary's first priority was his family with whom he shared his love of the outdoors, particularly lakes where he enjoyed boating and water skiing. This enjoyment will be continued through his sons Brennen and Logan. Gary lived his life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Gary's dynamic personality, sense of humour, and kind heart garnered an extended family of many dear friends whose generosity truly overwhelmed his family throughout his illness. Gary's life will be celebrated by Reverend Bill Foged and family and friends during a ceremony at Eventide Funeral Chapel at 4820 45 Street in Red Deer at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30. Following the service there will be a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer.
