George GOODWIN

July 5, 2007

GOODWIN George Gerald "Gerry" Goodwin will be dearly missed by his loving wife Jacqueline and unborn child expected in December; his mother Eileen Foote of Edmonton; father Geoff Goodwin of Red Deer; sisters Dianne (Hart), Shelley (Greg), Christine (Ron), Brothers Tom and Robbie; nieces and nephews Clint, McKenzie, Whitney, Brittney, Taylor, Cameron. Predeceased by step father Bill Foote, and step mother Heather Goodwin. Gerry was born in Edmonton March 19, 1958 and spent his formative years in St. Albert before moving to Red Deer with his family in 1972. He began his automotive career in Red Deer when he opened a body shop at the age of 18. He returned to Edmonton in 1986 and continued building and fabricating street rods and race cars. He was well known in his field, exceptionally talented and excelled at his craft. His driving career began with funny cars and he became a popular sprint car driver throughout the 80's and 90's at local race tracks. True to his "fear nothing" nature he made a career change in his 40's to the kitchen cabinet industry. He had a passion for golf, loved building and entertaining at his cabin on the lake, cherished time with his family and friends and will never be forgotten for his hijinx and sense of humour. His active life was very full, he touched innumerable people. He felt he was finally complete when he met and married Jacqueline who he loved and adored. The recent news of becoming a father was the greatest moment in his life. A Memorial Service will be held at Connelly-Mckinley Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street on Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Dave Quigley Officiating. Celebration of Gerry's life to follow at 5:00 p.m., Country Lodge, 17515 - 127 Street. Connelly-McKinley Ltd., 10011-114 Street, (780) 422-2222, to send condolences: www.connelly-mckinley.com
