Gerald BARRETT

July 4, 2005

BARRETT Gerald “Gerry” Barrett of Sylvan Lake passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, July 1, 2005 at the age of 71 years. Gerald was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on April 17, 1934, to Margaret and William Barrett. Gerald shared the pleasure of raising his four sons and two daughters with the love of his life, Jean, with whom he spent a wonderful 53 years of marriage. Gerald and Jean resided in Yorkton until 1992 when they moved to Sylvan Lake to be closer to their family. Gerry truly enjoyed life, and especially so when he was able to retire at the early age of 45. This was his time to savour doing what he loved – spending summers at Good Spirit Lake with his many friends and family. His favourite pastimes included fishing, cooking, walking and gardening. Gerald will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of his dear wife Jean of Sylvan Lake, four sons; Jerry (Tara) Barrett of Rocky Mountain House, Randy (Elaine) Barrett of Olds, Greg (Kim) Barrett of Drayton Valley, and Art (Brenda) Barrett of Red Deer, two daughters; Lois (Bob) Westover of Red Deer, and Gloria (Kim) Yurchak of Drayton Valley, fourteen grandchildren, two brothers; Bill Barrett of Saskatoon and Art Barrett of Dalemead, three sisters; Bernice Hainstock of Terrace, B.C., Shirley Duggan of Candle Lake, SK and Anais Rosin of Yorkton, SK, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Gerald was predeceased by his brother John and his sister Louise McCaffrey. A Memorial Service for the late Gerald Barrett will be held at Red Deer Funeral Home & Crematorium (67th Street) Ltd. on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 10:00 am.
