CARFANTAN, Gerald
The family of Gerald Carfantan is deeply saddened to announce his passing on May 22, 2017, at the age of 73 years.
Gerald was raised in St. Brieux, SK, he studied Distributive Technology at NAIT, lived in Edmonton and St. Albert, moved his family to Red Deer in 1977 and called it home for 40 years.
He touched many people with his gifts of generosity, honesty, friendly demeanor and meticulous work ethic. With his family he travelled throughout Canada, the US, and many other countries. He experienced a safari in Africa, climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, sailed the Nile and visited the pyramids in Egypt. He also enjoyed making fine wine, loved golf, skiing and the outdoors.
Left to honor his memory are his wife of 48 years, Diana, son Gerod (Jennifer) and daughter Crystal (Rory), brothers Larry and Louis, and sisters Helen, Estelle, Marguerite, Lucille, and Marian. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Eugenie and brothers Remi, Dennis and Albert.
A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 5508 48A Ave in Red Deer on May 30, 2017 at 11:00 am, with inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta or the charity of your choice.
