Germaine MORTIER

MORTIER Germaine “Gerry” Mortier of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on August 4, 2006 at the age of 79 years. Gerry was born in St. Alphonse, Manitoba on May 5, 1927 to Amedee and Marie DeVlieger. Gerry loved music, dancing and jam sessions with her friends. As a winter pass time she enjoyed ice fishing at Gull Lake. She was skilled at knitting and crocheting and made all kinds of things for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gerry was close with her family and they were very important to her. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Gerry will be lovingly remembered by one son, Gary (Diane) of Gleniffer Lake, one daughter, Diane (Lou) Deurbrouck of Surrey, seven grandchildren; Rob Masson, Sheri Masson, Jennifer Geisbrecht, Taylor Mortier, Tracey Barrett, Ron Bean and Deanna Bean, nine great grandchildren and her special friend, Elmer Brown. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law; Madelene DeVlieger of Winnipeg and Germaine “Gerry” Mortier of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne Mortier, her daughter, Joan Mortier and two brothers; Maurice DeVlieger and Jerome DeVlieger. A Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (5508 – 48A Ave) on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gary Lee, Celebrant.
