Gladys HORN

HORN Gladys C. Horn passed away peacefully at Parkvale Lodge on Saturday, November 5 at the age of 95. Gladys was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 20, 1910 and spent most of her early life in Big Valley, AB where her father was an engineer with CN Rail. When she completed high school Gladys moved to Red Deer to work at the Provincial Training School. During this time she met Fred W. Horn and they were married October 28, 1939, with Fred leaving for overseas two months later. Following the War they stayed in Red Deer raising their family and developing many life long friendships. In their retirement together they spent 20 wonderful years in Mesa, Arizona which became a highlight of their lives. Gladys is survived by daughter Gail Krause (Jim) of Red Deer, son Dan (Linda) of Okanagan Falls, B.C. Gladys was very proud of all her 5 grandchildren, Tim Brigley (Kelly) of Toronto, Lori St. John (Jeff) of Calgary, Carmen Dixon of Redwater, Travis Horn of Ft. McMurray, Stephanie Horn of Red Deer. She is also survived by her sister Thelma MacRitchie of Surrey B.C. She was also proud to be a great grandma to Morgan, Kieran and Sean. She was predeceased by her parents Russ and Edna Trann, her husband Fred of 62 years in 2002, bothers Ken and Milton Trann, sister Babe Bergstrom and grandson-in-law J.J. Dixon. A celebration of Glady's life will be held on Thursday, November 10, at Gaetz Memorial Church at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to Gaetz Memorial United Church.
