SHAW Gladys Willimina Gladys Willimina Shaw passed away July 23,2008 at the Valley Park Manor in Red Deer. Gladys was born March 1, 1917 in Ribstone, AB to Arthur and Ann Sophia Rider. Gladys was married on March 17, 1940 to Andy Shaw. Throughout the years Gladys lived in Saunders, Bluffton, Red Deer, Blackfalds, and finally with her daughter Evelyn in Eckville prior to her move to Valley Park Manor. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, dogs and raising canaries. After Andy’s passing in 1970 Gladys worked hard to raise her 6 children. When you hear the saying “would give you the shirt off their back” Gladys would have. Gladys had a green thumb and could make most anything grow she was always overjoyed to give you a new plant she had grown from a seed. Gladys will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Andy Shaw, grandson Alan Johannson, and great grandson Brett Thomas. She is survived by her six children Ruth (Stan) Johannson of Lacombe, Joan (Doug) Norman of Stettler, Evelyn Galisky (Vern Bareham) of Eckville, Leonard (Marilyn) Shaw of Penhold, Linda (Bob) Thomas of New Denver, British Columbia, and Ken (Cindy) Shaw of Red Deer. As well as 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Special Thanks to Evelyn & Vern for the care they provided and to Valley Park Manor staff for all their assistance. A Family graveside memorial service for Gladys will be held Monday July 28,2008 at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer at 2:00pm.
