GNIEWOTTA - Gladys Elizabeth Alexandra (Rode) It is with earthly sadness and heavenly gladness that we announce the passing of Gladys at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Center on March 14, 2007 at the age of 69, following a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Gladys had three great loves in her life: Firstly, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose angels welcomed her into heaven. Secondly, her family who will all miss her dearly; Paul, her loving and devoted husband of 48 years; her daughter Patti (Neil) Paetsch of Pilot Butte, and grandchildren Cory of Regina, Chalan of Saskatoon and Jordan of Regina; her son Randy (Sandi) Gniewotta of Edmonton and grandchildren Ryan (Kate) of Victoria, and Tyler of Edmonton; her daughter Lauri (Kevin) of Red Deer, and grandsons Chris and Justin of Edmonton; her mother Bertha Rode of Lanigan, her sister Norma (Martin) Winter of Saskatoon, sister Elaine (Gordon) Greve of Lanigan, brother Ernie (Gail) Rode of Langham, sister Marlene (Al) Roth of Red Deer, sister Verna Jean (Bill) Samborski and godson Jared of Edmonton, sister Marian (Cameron) Hall of Lanigan, brother Larry (Claudette) Rode of Calgary, and sister Glenna (Bob) Brown of Westbank. In-laws; Irene Podetz of Nanaimo, Rev. Harold Gniewottta of Edmonton, Angela (Don) Desormeaux of Langley, Ed Gniewotta of Westbank, and Wally (Shirley) Gniewotta of Sherwood Park. Cherished also by Gladys were all of her aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Thirdly, her faithful circle of friends, members of the ELW, Ladies' Bible Study groups, Silver Blades skaters, neighbors and special friends in Vermillion, Saskatoon, Carlyle, Lanigan, Germany, and Swaziland. Cancer may have taken her life but it did not take away her faith, her hope, her love, her friendships, her soul or her eternal life. A celebration of Gladys' life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanigan Sask., on Monday March 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Lanigan Lutheran Cemetery at 11:45 a.m. A special Memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 40 Holmes Street in Red Deer on Wednesday March 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to: On Eagles Wings (VBS Support); Good Shepherd ELW; or the Canadian Cancer Society.
