Gordon FRIZZELL

October 26, 2005

FRIZZELL Gordon Samuel Frizzell has Gone Fishin' Gordon left for his final fishing trip early in the morning on Sunday, October 23, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was born into a family of eight children on February 9, 1920 on the Rowland Farm near Lacombe to his parents Lester and Blanche Frizzell. Even in his youth Gordon was self-proclaimed horse crazy. As a young teenager he trained horses in Calgary and worked a summer in Invermere, B.C. taking horses as his pay. At age 14 he single handedly trailed these horses from Invermere to Lacombe through the Ghost River Pass in the Rockies, so he could break them and sell them in the winter. Gordon served during WW11 with the South Alberta Regiment. He boxed for the Armed Forces winning the 126 lb. Class at the CNE in 1941. Throughout his life Gordon was involved in family businesses including building moving, various oilfield services, and Frizzell's Trailer City. Gordon lived for the outdoors and spent much of his spare time hunting, camping, and fishing with many special longtime friends. Gordon is predeceased by his eldest son Dennis. Gordon is survived by his son Robin (Bee) Frizzell of Red Deer, daughter Shauna (Bob) Rimmer of Kelowna, their mother Peggy Frizzell of Red Deer as well as his sister Clare Wilkins of Calgary. His memory will also be cherished by one granddaughter, six grandsons, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Drs. Tillier and Thain and the staff of Unit #32 for their unwavering care and compassion. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer on Wednesday, October 26th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation P.O.
