Grace LOUGHEED

LOUGHEED Grace Noreen Lougheed (nee Hodgson) passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House Hospital on October 4, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Grace was born February 1, 1920 to Wesley and Olive Hodgson at Dewberry, Alberta. After graduation from Normal School in Edmonton, she taught at Grand Prairie, then moved to Condor to teach for several years. There she met and married William Lougheed. After his passing, Grace resumed her teaching career. In 1969 she married Ron. She continued to teach until retirement. Family, farming, with Ron and Daryl, community and church activities and music remained her joy until her passing. Grace is survived by her two sons Brian Lougheed of Condor and Daryl (Penni) Lougheed of Condor; her three daughters Karen Lougheed of Calgary, Beverley (Bill) Thomson of Red Deeer and Arlene (Ken) Waite of Red Deer; nine grandchildren Paul (Melonie) Martzoukos, Nicole (Jeff) Carefoot, Glen (Cindy) Thomson, Phillip (Diane) Thomson, Stacey Pustowka, Heather (Ryan) Sinclair, Robert Waite, Rebecca (Brad) Waite and Katherine Waite; five great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Joan Lougheed of Edmonton and Jeanette Hodgson of Calgary. Grace was predeceased by her parents; her first husband William in 1968; Ron in 2000 and her brother Gordon Hodgson. A Celebration of Grace Lougheed's Life will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Ron Tiessen officiating. A private family interment was held at the Alto-Reste Cemetery in Red Deer. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Grace's name to Condor Handbell Choir or to a charity of the donor's choice.
