GRIMSON, Mr. Lawrence "Laurie" Julius Grimson passed away peacefully on May 28, 2006 in Edmonton at the age of 67. Laurie was raised in the Burnt Lake area. He went to high school in Red Deer, joined the Royal Canadian Navy, and returned to Alberta to worked as a county land assessor and as a landman in the oil industry. He loved to play baseball and hockey and was an avid reader. He later moved to B.C. to fulfill his lifelong dream of sailing, buying a boat to do charters. He was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. Special thanks to staff at Capital Care Lynwood and Open Arms. He leaves to mourn his passing, his two children Kim and Shannon (Rob); daughter - in - law Carolyn; grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, Emily, Lindsay, Jeff, Shae, Zachary, and Cody; sisters Jean (Bud), and Vona; sisters - in - law Helen and Margaret; brother - in - law Art; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald; father and mother Grimur and Christine; sisters Alberta, Lil, and Dorothy; and brothers Sam and Earl. A Funeral Service for the late Laurie Grimson will be held at the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home, 5019 47A Avenue, Sylvan Lake on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:30 P.M. with Reverend Bob Wilson officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Burnt Lake Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Laurie's memory to a charity of your choice.
