HANSEN, Hans George

Hans George Hansen (George) passed away peacefully at Royal Oak Village in Lacombe on February 11, 2017. George was born July 11, 1925 about 100 km from Copenhagen, Denmark in the village of Faxe Ladeplads to Anders Viggo and Johanne Marie Hansen. As a boy, he worked on his parents' farm, attended school, and was in several plays in a Local Drama club. As a young man, he took formal education for Agriculture at Dalum Landbrugsskole and was a Soldier for the Danish Royal Guard in Copenhagen. In 1951 he came to Canada on a Farm Exchange program and worked on Farms in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. George fell in love with Central Alberta. George and his wife Annalise (Lise), who is also from Denmark, became Canadian Citizens and made Lacombe their home. George worked for a while at a logging camp west of Rocky Mountain House; then began his career as a Carpenter working for Ellis Construction in Lacombe; building everything from homes to larger commercial buildings; and then later doing smaller projects for Lacombe County. As well as working full time; he enjoyed the farm where they had range cattle, hay, and grain. George enjoyed volunteering at church and was a 4H Leader. He enjoyed time with his extended Family and being around people. His hobbies were going to auctions, coffee time with friends, and hockey games.

George was predeceased by his parents Anders Viggo & Johanne Marie, his brother Olav, and two sisters Ruth and Elise Marie. He is survived by his Wife Lise; his Children Steann (Joan), Benita (Ken) Kalinsky, Eric (Kelly), David (Christy); his Grandchildren Justeann, Joel, Jordan, Kevin (Kristen) Kalinsky, Collin Kalinsky, Carly (Brett) Moore, Kyle (Maria), Annalise, Sophia, Madden; his Great Grandchild J.J. Kalinsky; his brother Henry (Agnes) of Kelowna & their Extended Family; and his large Extended Family in Denmark. The Family would like to thank Friends, Relatives, AHS, Lacombe Foundation, Royal Oak Village, Sally & Corry. Their compassionate care, companionship, and help was very much appreciated and made George's last years as comfortable as was possible.

Funeral to be held at Wilson's Funeral Home (6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe) at 2:00 pm Saturday February 18, 2017. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lacombe Foundation (4622 C & E Trail, Lacombe, AB T4L 1M9).
