HARTLEY It is with sadness that Gilbert's family announces his passing in the early morning hours on January 10th, 2008. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, his children Wayne (Corinna) Hartley of Lethbridge, Julie (Todd) Wallace of Claresholm, stepchildren David Rickett of Edmonton, Shannon (Doug) Bowman of Whitecourt, Scott (Diane) Rickett of Red Deer and Cheryl DeHaas of Red Deer. Gilbert is also survived by his brothers and sister: Ardell (Faye) Hartley of Glenwood, Donna Munro of Victoria, Howard (Roseanne) of Vulcan. He also leaves 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, his mother-in-law Helen Gallen of Edmonton. He was predeceased by his parents Stuart and Roumelia Hartley, his wife Madeline Hartley, brother Lowell Hartley and sisters Maureen Stanford and Roumelia (Bea) Smith, brother-in-law Charles (Chase) Smith and step- grandson James Bowman Rickett. Gilbert will be remembered and missed as will his sense of humor, his joy in socializing, his love for family and his fellowman, his kindness and generosity and always, his love of the land. A special thank you to the staff of the Red Deer Nursing Home for the care and kindness shown to Gilbert and his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Claresholm. An opportunity to meet with the family prior to the service will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be at the Claresholm Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Gilbert’s name may be made directly to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (#207 542-7th Street South Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2H1). His family wishes to express thanks to all those who have offered their kindness and support at this time.
