Helen FISHER

FISHER, Helen Fisher of Lacombe, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the age of 92 years. Helen was born on October 24, 1913 at Hodgeville, Saskatchewan and moved to Central Alberta as a teenager. She married John Fisher in 1937 and they farmed east of the Gull Lake Area, retiring to Lacombe in 1960. She moved to the Lacombe Senior’s Lodge in 1999 and to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre in 2004. She was an active individual who was devoted to her family and enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends and relatives. She will be missed but lovingly remembered and cherished by her family and friends. Helen is survived by two sons, Mel (Pauline) Fisher and granddaughter, Renee, son, Dave (Sharon) Fisher, granddaughter, Christine (Jeremy) Bos and great grandson, Tyler, grandson, Craig. She is also survived by brothers, Henry (Kathy) Hoffman of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Norm (Margaret) Hoffman of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, sisters, Bertha Steers of Lacombe and Evelyn Saunders of Surrey, British Columbia, four stepdaughters-in-law, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as cousins, extended family and dear friends. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, John in 1972, four stepsons, Ted in 1991, Harvey in 1974, John in 1996 and Ray in 1988, her parents, Fred and Carlina Hoffman, sisters, Emily Strauch, Esther Schmidt, Leona Hoffman and brothers, Wilmer and Jacob Hoffman. A Public Funeral Service will be held at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 4619, C & E Trail, Lacombe, Alberta on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Helen’s honour may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Continuing Care Unit, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta, T0C 2J0, to the Gideons, Post Office Box 3619, Guelph, Ontario, N1H 7A2 or to a Charity of the donor’s choice.
