Helen HAMILTON

November 13, 2007

HAMILTON Helen Hamilton of Rocky Mountain House passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on November 9, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Helen was born in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan on August 23, 1929. She moved to Daysland, Alberta in 1952 and married Donald Hamilton on November 22 of that year. Helen and Don raised their five children on the farm until moving to Red Deer in 1966. Helen continued to raise the kids while Don worked in the oil patch. She worked at various restaurants and ran the Penhold Café. In 1971 they ventured into restaurant ownership with the purchase of the Sand Castle Restaurant in Sylvan Lake. In 1976 Helen and Don retired to Leslieville and remained there until 2000. With heavy hearts they relocated to Red Deer due to health reasons and it was there that Don passed in February 2003. Helen once again made a move to Rocky Mountain House and resided at the Clearwater Centre until the time of her passing. Through all the years of raising her family, working, loving and laughing, there were few constants; her love of family, her love of good cooking and her infinite faith in God. It was these things that she openly and willingly shared with anyone and everyone. She touched the hearts and lives of many who will cherish her memory. Helen will be lovingly remembered by four sons; Ronald (Sandra) of Red Deer, Les (Kathy) of Red Deer, Gary (Carol) of Rocky Mountain House and Keith (Sandee) of Bonnyville, one daughter, Alison (Ian) of Calmar, sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Nicholas Maloff of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Hamilton, one sister, Pauline Banert and one brother, John Maloff. A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Helen Hamilton will be held at the Bethel Union Church in Leslieville on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mrs. Hamilton can do so to the charity of your choice.
