Helen SANDNESS

SANDNESS Helen Sandness of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on September 28, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Helen took her schooling at the Grey Nuns’ Hospital in Regina and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She then worked in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan and moved to Red Deer in 1962. Helen worked at a few hospitals in Central Alberta eventually settling at the Michener Centre where she worked for many years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed traveling and made many yearly trips to Las Vegas with her husband, Melvin. She was very talented when it came to handy work and she would spend lots of time; crotcheting, knitting and doing needle point and ceramics. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children; Rick of Red Deer, Donna (Dan) McCullough of Red Deer and Brian (Val) of Red Deer, seven grandchildren; Jenny, Andrew, Jamie, Sherry, Bradley, Amy, and Carmen, three great grandchildren; Carly, Cody, and Avery. She will also be dearly missed by her very special friend, Gail Westergaard as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Melvin in 1995, her parents; Eugene and Annie Wilson and two sisters; Gladys and Norma. A Memorial Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mrs. Helen Sandness can do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (#101, 5208 53 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2).
