HICKMAN On December 9, 2004 George Sydney Hickman of Innisfail, Alberta after a courageous battle with cancer, left this world to join his parents and brothers in a better one. George was born April 18, 1928 at Killarny, Manitoba the youngest child of Bill and Mary Hickman. At a very young age he moved with his family to Bowsman, Manitoba where George resided until 1967 when a move brought him to Alberta. His working life in Manitoba consisted of farm work and the hotel service industry. In Alberta he continued his career in the hotel business in Penhold, Red Deer and Delburne. He retired in 1986 moving to innisfail in 1994 where he enjoyed cards, bocci ball, old time music sessions and trading stories with his friends. George leaves to mourn his passing his wife of fifty four years, Alice; his daughters, Judy (Mal), Carol (Dwayne), Gail, Lynda (Steve); and his only son, Murray. He leaves also his grandchildren, Glen, Ritchie, Dwayne Jr., Chris, Raymond (lisa), Adrian, Wayne (Patty) and Russel (Leeann); great-grandchildren, Wendy and Vicky. George is also survived by two sisters, Irene Bailey and Kay Tall. George was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Mary; and his brothers, Tom and Cecil. George also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear, dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104, Innisfail, Alberta. As a memorial tribute to George Hickman a tree will be planted in the Tree Memorial Park (Innisfail) by Innisfail Funeral Home & Crematorium, 4415-49th Street, Innisfail. Telephone 227-0006.
