Hilkka CHRISTENSEN

CHRISTENSEN Hilkka Laura Christensen passed away peacefully on August 2, 2004 at the Lacombe Hospital, at the age of 72. Hilkka was born in Hameenkyro, Hame, Finland on January 18, 1932. She emigrated to Canada in 1951. She met her husband to be in Calgary in 1955 and they were married three years later. Hilkka spent her life being a superb wife and loving mother of their five children, excelling in everything she did. Her interests were many and her work ethic a beacon. She was well known for her sewing and decorating skills. Her compassion, her beauty, her desire to help were exemplary. Hilkka is survived by her husband of 46 years, DeLon; son Marlow (Shelly) of Edmonton; daughters, Nadine (Steven) of Lacombe, LaRae (Ira) of Maple Ridge, B.C., Deanne (Dave) and Denise of North Vancouver, B.C., she is also survived by 17 wonderful grandchildren; one brother, Pentti (Ingrid) of Victoria, B.C. She was predeceased by her brother, Heikki and her sister, Kerttu. She is sorely missed by her family and friends. Hilkka will be remembered in a service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lacombe on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The family would also like to express their appreciation to staff in units A & B in the Lacombe Hospital and Home Care for their much appreciated service in caring for Hilkka over the months of her illness. Hilkka will be interred in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, B.C. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Society Box 5576, Lacombe, AB T4L 1X2.
