II WALIN

December 15, 2006

WALIN, II Corinthians 5:8 "Absent from the body, present with the Lord.” Born in Hughenden, AB. on July 8, 1927, Walter Walin passed away in the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 13, 2006 at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila, son John (grandson Erik), daughter JoAnne (Chris), daughter Vicki (Len and grandson Ashton), daughter Elaine (Randy and granddaughters Tara (great granddaughter Ranell) and Nicole). In 1937 he moved with his family (parents Albin and Eleanor) to the Tees area and in 1947 moved to Clive area where he spent most of his life. He passed from grade 9 at the age of 13 and went to work on the home farm and for other neighboring farmers until the age of 17 when he went to work on the county road construction outfit operating heavy equipment which he later became foreman of. During this time he met the love of his life Sheila and together spent 54 ½ years of marriage. Following their marriage, Walt felt that the road construction work was not condusive to a good family life so he decided to go farming which he did for over 40 years. During his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and curled for many years. He also enjoyed big game hunting and fishing. Upon accepting the Lord as his Saviour in his life, he felt the need to serve him in different ways so joined the Gideon organization as well as the Christian Motorcycle Association. He served on the board of directors of the CMA Canada for 10 years. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and equipment and building things in his shop. A special thanks for the exceptional care and kindness by Doctors and Nurses at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and Palliative Care Ward as well as the prayers received from all.
