AKERSTROM James (Jim) Gordon September 21, 1927 - April 12, 2006 James (Jim) Gordon Akerstrom of Bowden, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 78 years. Left to mourn his loss is his wife Elaine, of 58 years, four children: Ed (Helen) of Lethbridge, Marj (Ken) Wiebe of Edmonton, Barb (Neil) Rae of Leduc, Dennis of Bowden; six grandchildren: Tammy (Scott) Stuckey, Kathy (Trevor) Mostyn, Kevin & Keri-lyn Wiebe, David (Jackie) Rae and Shawn (Rachel) Rae as well as 3 great grandchildren: James Stuckey, Dylan and Tyson Mostyn; brother Allan (Emma) Akerstrom of Red Deer, brother in law; Al Chase of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Edward and Edna Akerstrom and his sister Joyce Chase. Jim was born on September 21, 1927 in Camrose, Alberta, the eldest of three children. After 32 years with Imperial Oil they retired to their acreage in Innisfail. In 1999 they moved to Bowden. Funeral Service, a farewell tee-off time has been reserved at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 22, 2006 at the Innisfial United Church. 4720-48 Ave. Golf or casual attire please (soft spikes mandatory). In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to the Innisfail Health Care Centre or the Bowden Friendship Centre in Jim memory. As a memorial tribute to James Gordon Akerstrom a tree will be planted in the Tree Memorial Park (Innisfail) by HEARTLAND FUNERAL SERVICES LTD.
