James MAIER

MAIER, James 1923 - 2005 Major (ret'd) J. B. C. Maier, DCM, CD passed away at the Innisfail Hospital on October 29, 2005. He had been a proud soldier for 30 years, first with the Essex Scottish during WW II and then with The Royal Canadian Regiment for Korea and the rest of his service. After discharge he worked with the wolf cub pack in Didsbury, 185 Air Cadet Squadron in Olds and upon moving to Innisfail in 1978 with 1390 Red Deer Legion Army Cadets. He worked at cadet summer camps for 9 years. His many interests included reading, The RCR, The Airborne and the Korea Veterans Associations. He also greatly enjoyed building model airplanes and was a member of the Central Alberta Radio Fun Flyers and the Rocky Mountain Barnstormers. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol and 4 children Anne Marie, James, Margaret and Matthew, all of Australia. At his request, the Navy will bury his ashes at sea off the coast of Dieppe, France. There will be a celebration of Jim's life on November 21st, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Branch 104 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Innisfail.
