SWAINSON, James Swain

April 24, 1950 to May 24, 2017


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Swain Swainson. He died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at the Michener Extendicare Facility in Red Deer following a lengthy illness.

Jim leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Vicki (Boomer) Swainson; his daughters, Jaymie (Kieran) Pilson; Leigh (Victor) Rinaldi, and his only grandchild, Jimmy Pilson. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Stephens, three brothers; Clem, Bill and Don, as well as his father-in-law, Allan Boomer, his siblings-in-law; Jim Boomer, Kirby Boomer and Cindi Thompson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.

He was predeceased by his father, Roy Swainson, mother-in-law, Eva Boomer, brother-in-law, Barry Thompson and his nephew, Cameron Swainson.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Red Deer. He had amazing artistic talent, creating numerous paintings and sketches over the years. He loved animals, particularly enjoying bird watching. He was an avid golfer and had a keen interest in geology.

Everyone that knew Jim, knows what a unique person he was, and will treasure their memories of him.

At Jim's request, there will not be a funeral service. If friends should desire, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
