STEWARD MELISSA NICOLE JANUARY 4/1979 - JANUARY 11/2005 Melissa left us suddenly in Edmonton, AB. Tuesday night due to an aortic aneurysm. She was warming up for one of her favorite sports, volleyball, with her fiance' Darrell and friends. Melissa loved all sports and camping expeditions with family & friends. Melissa was born in Drumheller and started school there. She graduated from Eckville senior high school in June 1996. Melissa took a year off from further education and visited family with her cousin Vanessa in Australia. Upon return, started her Biological Sciences Technologies course at Red Deer College for one year then transferred to NAIT and specialized in the Lab and Research division. Melissa graduated with her Diploma as a Biological Sciences Lab & Research Technician. She was currently employed at the U of A in the Pulmonary Research Group specializing in Asthma. Melissa leaves to mourn her tragic loss, her fiance', Darrell Mackie of Edmonton; and their little dog, Rascal; her mom & step-dad, Betty & Bill Bardenhagen of Eckville; her father, Don Steward of Drumheller; her brothers, Steven Steward of Red Deer and Jason Steward of Eckville. Also one grandparent, Shirley Steward-Hodgson of Drumheller. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends and co-workers who all meant so much to her. She was pre-deceased by an infant brother, Wesley Steward in December 1980. The service will be held Monday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckville Community Centre. Memorial contributions in Melissa's memory may be made to the Stars Edmonton Base or Red Deer Search & Rescue. Sylvan Lake Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
