Jean MCCORD

MCCORD Jean Smith McCord of Stettler, Alberta passed away at home on April 18, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Jean was born on November 13, 1915 in Portsoy, Scotland to Maggie and William Wilson. She immigrated with her family to Delburne, Alberta. in 1928 where she attended Cumberland School. She met her husband Walter at a dance in Delburne and they were married on February 22, 1943. They had one son Ken on February 20, 1944. Jean and her husband Walter ran a mixed farm in the Nevis area with their son Ken for many years. She enjoyed camping, travelling, gardening, knitting and playing cards. Jean was fondly known as Gram to her family and found her greatest comfort and joy spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband Walter; son Ken; brothers Jim Wilson and Willie Wilson and sisters Belle Burnett and Peggy Vincent. She is survived by her loving grandchildren – Curtis (Jodi) McCord and their sons Declan, Joshua and Zachary of Nevis, Alberta, Laurel (Stephen) Deering and their daughter Hailey of Rimbey, Alberta, daughter-in-law Patti McCord of Nevis, Alberta; sisters – Nellie (Ed) Neis of Red Deer and Kathleen (Joe) Leuwer of Edmonton; brothers – Sandy (Joan) Wilson and Bob Wilson, both of Delburne, Alberta; as well as a host of other relatives and wonderful friends.
