JEVNE, C.O. (IKEY) 1914-2007 Clarence Oscar (Ikey) Jevne passed away quietly Thursday, July 26 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years. Ike was born on April 3, 1914 at Gwynne, Alberta, the eldest child of Carl and Sarah Jevne. He grew up on the family farm north of Wetaskiwin and graduated from High School in Wetaskiwin. After attending Normal School in Camrose, he started his career as an educator, teaching in small rural schools until the Second World War. He spent the war years serving in the RCAF and upon his return to civilian life, completed his University degrees in Science and Education. Ike taught in Viking, then accepted the Principalship of Mecca Glen School, east of Ponoka. He finished his teaching career at Ponoka Composite High School, retiring in 1974. He was predeceased by his brothers, Tustan, Fred (Freeman) and Patrick, his wife, Stella, and his grandson, Riley Jevne Hall. Ike is survived by his sister, Josephine Reid (Stan (d.)) of Red Deer, his daughter, Kristine Huddleston (Barry) of Ponoka, his sons, Karl (Myrna) of Sylvan Lake and Clayton (Ellen) of Victoria, B.C. and his special friend and companion, Marion Parks of Ponoka. He also leaves to mourn his passing his grandchildren, Jakob, Roland and Katie Huddleston, Megan and Andrew Jevne and his many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at Ponoka Funeral Home, 5115-50 Avenue, Ponoka. There will be a luncheon following at the Anglican Church Hall, 5120-49 Avenue, Ponoka. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. which will be followed by cremation.
