RUSSELL Joyce Eileen Joyce Russell of Lacombe, AB passed away peacefully on April 9th at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 86 years. Joyce was born on February 9, 1922 at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. She married Kenneth Harlow Thompson on September 27, 1941. They had four children, Gene, Lynn, Linda and Kenneth. After Ken's passing on April 7th. 1953, Joyce married Fred Russell on October 3rd, 1953. She became a mother to Pat and Sandy. Joyce lived at Cactus Lake, Sask. and obtained many life long friends. She and Fred farmed at the Thompson farm until 1967 when they moved to Cactus Lake. Fred took over the Post Office. In 1975 they retired to Lacombe, Alberta. She was a life long member of the Red Cross and Women's Institute. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Lacombe. Joyce is survived by her loving children, Gene (Joyce), Lynn (Catherine), Linda (Dennis), step-daughter Pat, sixteen grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joyce was predeceased by two husbands, Kenneth Thompson and Fred Russell, children Kenneth Bruce and Sandra Joyce, also by her parents Frank and Florence Saunders, one brother and six sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. Funeral services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe, AB on Monday April 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery.
