HUNTER, Kathleen ‘Kay’ It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Kay on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the age of 86 years. In the presence of her daughters, Kay ended her earthly struggles and joined her loved ones in Heaven. Kay is survived by her daughters, Patti Hunter (Al Purkess) and Maureen (Barry) Fleming; her sister, Jean (Johnny) Arondeus; her grandchildren, Neil, Tim and Joel Purkess; Ryan (Cari), and Craig Fleming; and Heather (John) Merrett; and her great grandson, Ty Hunter Fleming. Remaining relatives include nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Maple Ridge, B.C., Calgary and Victoria; as well as cousins and an aunt in Northern Ireland. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, George and her brother, Herb Wilson. Born in Ireland, Kay was always proud of her Irish Ancestry. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, a smile that lit up the room and an appreciation of life and others that endured to the end. Kay was a warm and loving presence to her family and friends. Her passions included sewing, curling, golfing, playing bridge with her ladies group, dancing and daily walks with George during their fifty-six years together. A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, 11529-76th Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Kay’s honour may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Suite 1200, 20 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario, M4R 1K8 or to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff at Riverbend Retirement Residence, Edmonton, Alberta who provided many stimulating activities and excellent care throughout her three year stay.
