Laura CRIPPS

CRIPPS, Laura Mildred Laura was born to Henry and Elizabeth Backlund on July 28, 1918 at Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. Laura received her first years of schooling at Shaunavon and then the family moved to Eastend, Saskatchewan, where she completed her schooling in 1936. She then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She started teaching school at Coulee Hill Country School in 1938. She then taught school at Avon School until her marriage to Orland in 1940 in Shaunavon. She is survived by her husband, Orland Cripps, they were married for 66 years. Also survived by a son Randy Cripps of Ponoka, AB; grandson, Bob Cripps of Fox Creek, AB; granddaughter Lorna Cripps; great granddaughter Katrina Cripps of Redcliff, AB. special niece and nephew Julie Edwards of Williams Lake, BC, Wade Cripps of Williams Lake BC; sister Betty Zinter of Calgary, AB and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her father in 1951 and her mother in 1990. They resided on the family farm at Eastend until their son took over the farm in 1969, at which time Orland and Laura moved to Kelowna, BC, where they have resided until her passing on May 24, 2006. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
