Leonard COLOSIMO

February 1, 2007

COLOSIMO, Leonard John 1935 - 2007 Leonard Colosimo of Rocky Mountain House passed away on January 29, 2007 at the age of 71 after living a full and interesting life. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend for 46 years, Kathleen. He is also survived by his children Patricia (Walter), Tom (Carol), Ken (Pam) and Frank (Alanna), his nine grandchildren all of whom loved their Grand-Dad dearly and his sister Phyllis Wade. Len was born in Nordegg and moved to the Northwest Territories when he was 20. Len quickly embraced the North, its culture and people. Len started his wildlife career in 1959, first with Parks Canada in Wood Buffalo National Park and then to Renewable Resources with the Territorial government, changing with it as the North evolved. Along the way, Len lived, worked and enjoyed all regions of the North. It was in the North that Len met and married his love, Kathleen and raised his family. They lived in Fort Smith, Hay River, Fort MacPherson, Inuvik, Iqaluit and Yellowknife. Len retired in 1994 and moved back to Rocky Mountain House so he could be closer to his family and his beloved mountains around Nordegg. Early in his retirement, Len was called upon to help set up the Mackenzie Valley Resources Board because of his strong ties to and his understanding of the North. Upon completing this task, Len and Kathy immersed themselves in the joy of retirement, taking long road trips to visit family and friends, enjoy their mountains or just to see what they hadn't seen. A Funeral Mass will be (was) held in his honour at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made in Len's memory. Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Home, entrusted with the arrangements. 1-403-845-2626
