BARLUND Thelma Elizabeth Barlund of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, January 5, 2007 at the age of 88 years. Thelma was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest in 2004. Thelma was born at Loverna, Saskatchewan and moved to the Eckville area as a child in the 1930's where she attended the Evarts School. She worked in the Eckville area until she and Ernie moved to a farm north of Withrow. She spent over 40 years on the farm working and raising 5 children. Her family was very important to her and even until the last hours of her life, she showed concern and compassion for her ever growing family and friends. Thelma will be forever remember by her four sons: Bruce (Carol) Barlund of Red Deer, Robert (Arlene) Barlund of Wanham, AB, Douglas (Dana) Barlund of Penhold, Dale (June) Barlund of Stoney Plain, AB, one daughter, Sharon (Glenn) Sharp of Lacombe, fourteen grandchildren: Monica, Tanya, Scott (Ali), Christie, Derek (Debra), Brian (Joelle), Kristen (Leann), Kathryn, Colleen, Erica, Bethany, Joel, Craig, Katie, and six great grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by her two sisters: Madeline Steele and Maxine McFadden. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home And Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4P 3V9 on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 2:00 pm. with Reverend Fran Hare officiating. Memorial Donations my be made to the Canadian Red Cross, 3030 - 55 Street, Red Deer, AB, T4P 3S6.
