Mable WRIGHT

August 16, 2008

WRIGHT Mable Harriet Wright passed away peacefully on August 14th at Kelowna General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Predeceased by her parents, John and Jeannie Ramsey, she is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herb; daughter Barb (Al McAlister), son Barry (Mary Chouinard); grandchildren Kaley, Chad, Monica, Kit, and John Emmett; and brothers Bob (Dorothy) and Lyle (Helen); sister Gladys and many nieces and nephews. Mable was born on October 29th in Hamiota, Manitoba and was raised on the family farm. She received her Teacher's Certificate and taught at White Bank Lea School. She and Herb were married on December 29th, 1952 in Brandon, Manitoba and honeymooned at Niagara Falls. They moved to Edmonton and started their family. In 1958 the family moved to Red Deer as Herb started working at Central Electric Wholesale. Red Deer was a great place to raise a family. There was a stop in Edmonton before Herb and Mable moved to Kelowna in 1982. Mable was an avid sportswomen, playing softball and curling, and she really enjoyed a good game of bridge playing weekly with "the girls". The Family wishes to offer their deep thanks to Dr. Jan McIntosh and the staff of Unit 4A Kelowna General Hospital and the Dogwood Section of Cottonwoods for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Mable’s behalf to the Lung Association or KGH foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hansons’ Arbor Westwood Funeral Chapel, 2541 Churchill Road, Westbank, on Monday August 18th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Hamiota, Manitoba in July 2009. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to HANSONS' ARBOR-WESTWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-800-275-1202.
