MacKENZIE It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father Duncan MacKenzie on Monday, March 27, 2006 as the result of a motor vehicle accident at the age of 73. He is survived by his daughters Lynette (Malcolm) Scherer of Medicine Hat, Myrna (Rob Carpenter) MacKenzie; son Terry MacKenzie; grandson Craig Scherer and granddaughter Kendyl Scherer all of Calgary. He is also survived by his mother Catherine of Eckville; sister Marjorie Stevenson of Red Deer; brothers Bill (Darleen) MacKenzie of Westbank, B.C. and David (Mary) MacKenzie of Eckville. Duncan is also survived by his step-grandchildren Danielle and Kristen Bonnamour; two sisters-in-law Doreen Frewin and Yvonne (Jacques) Lachaine all of Calgary. Duncan was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1981; father Simon in 1994; mother and father-in-law Morley and Annie Emmett and sister-in-law Rita. Duncan was born on December 26, 1932 in Drumheller and raised on the family farm in Eckville. Dad started working for the Coca-Cola Co. in Red Deer in the late 1940's. He later started working for the Federal Government in Red Deer, in the early 1960's. Dad furthered his career with the government and moved to Calgary in 1967 until his retirement to the Sylvan Lake / Eckville area in the mid 1990's. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Duncan's Memory may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. Air Rescue, P.O. Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 8M7.
