Margaret BASCOMBE

BASCOMBE Margaret Jean Bascombe passed away December 17, 2008. Jean was born September 10, 1919 in Brandon, Manitoba to John and Winnie McKinnon. She moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband, Alfred Bascombe. When Alfred left for England and war, Jean moved with her 10-month-old daughter to live on the Bascombe homestead near Innisfail. Jean spent the next sixty-five years being a wife and mother to six children. Jean's love of letter writing chronicling life on the farm and his daughter's progress for Alfred while overseas and later army buddies and relative in England and Canada. Jean leaves to morn her passing four daughters: Margaret/Mardie Giegold, Red Deer; Barbara (Peter) Steinman, Alix; Marilyn (Jules) Jean, Edmonton; Sharen (Bob) Sztym, Leslieville, and two sons, Roy, Innisfail and daughter-in-law Barbara Bascombe, Red Deer and Phillip(Gwen), Alix. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 4 special grandchildren and Mardie's 3 adopted granddaughters, plus 12 great-grandchildren. Jean also leaves her only sibling, Georgina ("Babs"), Point Edward, Ont. and special niece, Margaret Johnson, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her husband in 2003, and 2 grandchildren predeceased her. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Red Deer, Alberta or The Red Deer and District S.P.C.A. Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
