Marguerite SIROIS

SIROIS, Marguerite Eva Sirois of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the age of 88 years. Marguerite (Margo) was born April 19, 1918 on the family homestead outside of Kincaid, Saskatchewan (south of Swift Current). She attended school in Saskatchewan and was admitted to the Nursing Program at the Moose Jaw Providence Hospital, graduating in 1940 as class valedictorian and recipient of several awards. Margo’s nursing career flourished beyond her retirement date, nursing her brother, father, husband and then her mother through to 1996. Ahead of her time as a career woman, Margo also married Guy Sirois in 1943, raised four children and was dearly loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Marmie". Well read, well traveled and creative she enjoyed hobbies making needed items for charity and was a charter member of the Catholic Womens’ League, Red Deer District Museum & Archives, Alberta Council on Aging, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Association of Retired Persons as well as the Golden Circle. Margo will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Neil of Red Deer, Garvin (Louella) of Calgary, one daughter Rochelle (Jim) Cruthers of Saskatoon as well as seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, William Crandell (1977), mother, Marie Crandell (1996), brother, Ralph Crandell (1977), husband, Guy (1992), and son, Kevin (1972). Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB and a Funeral Mass will be held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, AB on November 27, 2006 at 2:00 pm. with Father Paul Kavanagh celebrant. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of your choice.
