Marie SMITH

November 22, 2005

SMITH Marie Smith passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2005, surrounded by family and the wonderful caregivers at the Red Deer Nursing Home. She was born in Grassy Lake, AB, June 8, 1910, moved to Elnora with her family in 1913, and then to Delburne in 1921. It was here she met her true love. She and Bo were married May 18, 1933, a marriage which lasted almost 61 years. Marie loved playing bridge and scrabble, and she especially loved to win. But her greatest love was sports, most of all curling, which she participated in for 50 years. She also loved to watch hockey and football, and was probably the Oilers and the Eskimos most devoted fan. She was predeceased by her beloved Bo, March 18, 1994, her parents, four brothers and five sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons; Bill (Marion), Doug (Judi), LaRue (Louise); two daughters, Lorna (Don), Donna (Merv) and daughter- in-law Nila; 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at the Elks Hall, 6315 Horn Street, Red Deer, AB on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the DTHR Foundation, PO Bag 5030, Red Deer, AB T4N 6R2 or the Red Deer Nursing Home, 4736 – 30th St. Red Deer, AB T4N 5H8 PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES 4779-49th Street, Red Deer 341-5181 and Calgary 216-5111 entrusted with arrangements.
