MOORE Mary Catherine Moore, born October 13, 1918, passed away in the Lacombe Community Health Care Center on May 12, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents; Dr. Howard and Mrs. Edna (Shilleto) Moore, and her brother Donald. Her only remaining relatives are many 2nd and 3rd cousins. Mary took all of her public schooling (Nelson School) and high school in Lacombe, then proceeded to the University of Alberta where she graduated with a B.A. degree and High School Teaching Certificate. She taught in Pincher Creek, Red Deer, and Edmonton, as well as a year in Britain on a teacher exchange program. She retired from her teaching years in 1975, when she returned to Lacombe to assist her ailing mother. Always an avid reader and book lover, Mary decided to leave a lasting legacy for her home town by donating a substantial fund to the Library portion of the new Lacombe Memorial Center. In her honor, the library fitly carries her name; "The Mary C. Moore Library". Funeral Services will be held from St. Andrew's United Church, 5226-51 Ave., Lacombe, AB. on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 2:00 PM.
