McGEE

December 6, 2004

McGEE Mrs. Mary McGee of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Valley Park Manor in Red Deer on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Mary was born November 22, 1928 in Innisfail, the fourth child to Rowland and Frances Morris. She took her schoo-ling in the Westholm District and later became a hairdres-ser. Mary and Bruce McGee were wed on October 18, 1950 and they farmed in the Little Red Deer area. In 1961 their son Ken was born. Mary's interests included curling, dancing, skiing, needlework and playing cards. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker and she was an immaculate housekeeper. She was a member of the United Church Women and the Little Red Deer Dorcas Women's Institute for many years. Mary also loved her roses and geraniums. Her life was the most blessed however, when her two grandchildren, Chad and Sarah, came into her life. Mary struggled with heart problems and had her first bypass surgery when she was 52 years old. Daily walks and a strict diet became a habit and she amazed everyone. Eighteen years later another bypass surgery was necessary. In 2000, Mary and Bruce celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mary was widowed in 2002 and she moved into Autumn Glen Lodge in December, 2003. Her health deteriorated and she spent three months in the Innisfail Hospital and then two months in the Valley Park Manor. Mary will be lovingly remembered and missed. She is survived by her son Ken (Brenda) and two grandchildren, Chad and Sarah, of Innisfail, one sister Edie (Ken) Thurston of Innisfail, two sisters-in-law, Bernice (Murray) Duncan of Cobblehill, BC and Phyllis (Rollie) Strobe of Didsbury, one brother-in-law, Richard (Beatrice) McGee of Castlegar, BC, three nieces and two nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Bruce, her mother and father, Roland and Frances Morris, and her three brothers, Percy, Arthur and Robert. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary McGee will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Innisfail United Church, 4720 48 Ave., Innisfail with Reverend Margaret Lange officiating and interment will follow at the Innisfail Cemetery.
