MCLANE, 1919 - 2006 Mr. James Morgan "Jim" McLane, beloved husband of Mrs. Eileen McLane of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Hospice Society on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the age of 86 years. Jim was born on November 30, 1919 at Calgary, Alberta to Moses and Mary McLane. Being the eldest of thirteen children, he learned at an early age to care for and support other people. Jim spent his childhood years at Acadia Valley, where he attended public school. He later moved to Grande Prairie, joining the army in 1940 and served in Italy and Central Europe before returning home in 1946. In 1949, he married Eileen Foote (nee Clarke). They had four children, Jim Foote (Marie Leduc), Mona (George Munday), Michael and Delphine (Andy Vanderlee), his grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Travis (Traci), Tyler (Jill), David, Sue, Amanda, Megan, Morgan, Austin and Nicole and his great grand children, Levi, Zacharey, Seth, Blaire, Sydney and Eldon. After a short time of homesteading and forestry work, he started a career in the oilfield that lasted forty years. Retiring to Red Deer, Jim continued his volunteer activities in the community and at the Legion, as well as enjoying his family and spending some winters in Arizona. The Memory of Jim will be treasured by his family whom he dearly loved. He was fun loving and enjoyed sports, dancing, music and was always politically aware. Dad was always very interesting and interested. He was a huge source of information for all of us in his family. His keen sense of humour and love of life were always a source of enjoyment to his family and many friends. Dad goes to join an infant daughter, a granddaughter, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. A Public Memorial Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
