McNAUGHTON

February 2, 2005

McNAUGHTON, Donald Donald Richard McNaughton passed away on Friday, January 28th at the age of 83 years. Don was born in Lacombe on July 6, 1921. He served in WWII from 1940 to 1945 as a 1st Class Stoker on the HMCS Melville. Don worked for Western Builders for many years as well as Cana Construction and Montreal Engineering, building and supervising the construction of many homes, businesses and commercial buildings in and around Central Alberta. Don had a great love for playing fastball, and for nature; he knew every flower by name and spent endless hours exploring the natural areas of Alberta. In his younger years his passion was hunting and fishing in the mountains with his children. He collected rocks and gems and belonged to the local Lapidary Society of Red Deer. His love of nature was certainly not surpassed by his love for his family, especially his grandchildren. Don will be sadly missed but lovingly cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. He leaves to mourn, his children, Malcolm (Barb) Leasa, Monique and Riel, Michael and his sons Spencer, Jayson, Mark and Jayden, Marie (Charles) Shane, Dawn and Landon, Gail and her daughters Pamela and Laura, and Lane (Connie) Branden and Justin, a very special family friend Lynn, his brother Jack, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Don was predeceased by his loving wife Darlene in 1999 and recently by his beloved sister Elizabeth (Beth) Third. A celebration of Don's life will be held at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 - 39th Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Ellis Bird Farm, Box 5090, Lacombe, AB., T4L 1W7.
