MEHARRY Mr. Melvin Raymond Meharry, beloved husband of Mrs. Colleen Meharry of Red Deer County, passed away quietly at his home on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at the age of 75 years. Melvin was born on May 2, 1930 at Outlook, Montana. He was raised in Oregon, United States and was a champion wrestler in High School. Melvin remained the State Champion for the next three years. He then attended Walla Walla College for two and one half years. Melvin immigrated to Canada in 1969, and farmed until 1984, where he lived in the Peace Country of Alberta. He then ran a small log hauling company in Stewart, British Columbia until 1990. After that, Melvin moved to Red Deer, where he pursued his hobby at maintenance repairs until he became ill. Melvin was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose family was very dear to him. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served as deacon and elder for many years. Melvin was a very kind and generous man who loved to help others. His passion for repairs of all kinds, whether it was cars, carpentry, electrical or plumbing, was Melvin’s way of sharing his gifts with those he loved, his family, his friends and neighbors. He also loved animals. Melvin will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Melvin leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Colleen Meharry and his loving children, sons, Stephen Meharry of Walla Walla, Washington and Michael Meharry of Loma Linda, California, his daughters, Jacklyn Meharry, Patricia Nielsen and Deborah Drager, all of Scottsdale, Arizona, his grandchildren, Candria Meharry of Riverside, California, Jared Meharry of Walla Walla, Washington, Chelsea Meharry of Loma Linda, California, Jayelyn McGregor of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Joshua Meharry of Walla Walla, Washington, Mayegan Zado of Scottsdale, Arizona and Marlayna Zado of Little Fort, British Columbia. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Leroy Meharry of Umatilla, Oregon, Robert Meharry of Bowden, North Dakota, Roger Meharry of Meridian, Idaho, Gerald Meharry of Rush, Texas, Dorothy Valaer of Walla Walla, Washington, Doreen Gray of Ceres, California, Dennis Meharry of Vancouver, Washington, Donna Waggoner of Bozeman, Montana and Darrell Meharry of Eugene, Oregon. Melvin was predeceased by a daughter Pamela Zado. A Celebration of Melvin’s Life will be held at the Red Deer Seventh Day Adventist Church, McKenzie Road, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
