MORRISON 1934 - 2008 Ray Morrison of Red Deer passed away on January 1, 2008 at the age of 73. John Raymond was born in Ethelton, Saskatchewan on June 23, 1934 and was raised on the family farm. Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Lucill (Paterson), son Doug (Diew), Angelina and Jocelyn of Lacombe, daughter Donna (Dwight Carlyle), Justine, Alison and Jared of Barrie, Ontario, daughter Patty (Michael Farwell), Jordan, Madison and Cole of Red Deer, sister Dorothy (Stavert Elliott) of North Batteford, Saskatchewan, sister-in-law Olive Bye and brother-in-law Charlie Clark of Melfort, Saskatchewan, sister-in-law Jean (Gary Parsons) of Tasmania, brother-in-law, Bob (Harriet) Paterson of Swift Current, brother-in-law Guy (Sharon) Paterson of Saskatoon and many well-loved nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Eva, his brother Allan, his sister Ruth Clark and nephew Bob Morrison. Ray taught in rural Saskatchewan and served in the United Church of Canada in Saskatchewan and at Alberta College in Edmonton. He was an education counsellor and superintendent with the Calgary District of Indian Affairs, and completed his teaching career in Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail and Red Deer. Ray and his family owned and operated the North Hill Dairy Queen during the eighties. Ray loved curling, golf, and especially track and field. After retirement he began running again and enjoyed sixteen years of seniors' competition. He was a dedicated volunteer with the United Way, Special Olympics, Youth Justice and Alberta Senior Citizens' Sport and Recreation Association. Ray will be remembered for his brilliant smile, his enthusiasm and his willingness to always help out. Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Service for Ray at Sunnybrook United Church (12 Stanton Street) at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008.
