Muriel THOMPSON

March 30, 2007

THOMPSON Muriel Thompson (nee: Reiman) of Red Deer, AB passed away on March 24, 2007 at the age of 70 years. Born in Moose Jaw, SK on July 15, 1936 she was the youngest of six children. Muriel grew up a prairie girl. In 1956 she married Bob Thompson and was a loving mother to her son Robbie. She was also a maternal figure for her many nieces and nephews who she loved. Muriel was a gracious host and opened her home for many to enjoy her exceptional culinary skills. She had an uncanny knack for creating delicious feasts at a moments notice. Supper hour was always a good time to drop by Murt's to see what was going on. Her home was a favourite hangout for Rob's friends who were always welcome and enjoyed hours of being entertained by her quick-witted feisty nature. Her work ethic exemplified this same loyal dedication. For many years she was a faithful assistant to Gordon Grierson, publisher of the Red Deer Advocate. She then went on to work with Kipp Scott Pontiac. Her sense of adventure brought her to Norman Wells, NWT where she helped manage a hotel. Upon retirement she moved to Alsask, SK, to assist her aging parents. In 2001 she moved to Jasper to be close to Rob, however Red Deer was always home and in November 2006 she returned to spend her final days in a town she knew and loved. Muriel created many fond memories for those who were touched by her clever sense of humour, unending generosity, and kindness. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Muriel's life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 in the Palermo Room at the Capri Hotel & Convention Centre, 3310 - 50 Avenue, Red Deer, AB at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to her favourite charity the Salvation Army, 4837 - 54 Street, Red Deer, AB. Condolences can be forwarded to the family at: www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of Muriel Thompson, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park, Red Deer County, AB.
