NIELSEN

January 9, 2008

NIELSEN 1937 - 2008 Darwin Nielsen of Red Deer passed away on January 4, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Darwin loved his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. His greatest joy was the outdoors; fishing and camping. At his side was his ever faithful companion, Bowser. Miss Kitty, the cat was also a favourite companion for Darwin. Darwin and his wife, Shirley recently attended their son's wedding in Cuba. He was heard to say that it was a trip of a lifetime. Darwin's special gift was woodworking. In recent years his craft led him to build picnic tables for sale at the Bentley and Lacombe Farmers Markets. He enjoyed, more than anything, the fellowship and camaraderie of his fellow marketeers. Darwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley, one son, Todd (Carla) of Campbell River, British Columbia and one daughter, Susan of Red Deer. He is also survived by one brother, Dale of Red Deer, one sister, Shirley (Andrew) of Eckville and four nephews; Dan, Darby, Darren and Dayton. He was predeceased by his parents, Orla and Edna Nielsen. Those wishing to pay their respects to Darwin can do so at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place at the Alto-Reste Cemetery on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Following the Graveside Service there will be a time of fellowship at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 35 (2810 Bremner Avenue).
