Orville GEHRKE

February 9, 2005

GEHRKE Orville Windsor Gehrke passed away peacefully on February 4, 2005 at the age of 84. He was born July 18, 1920 at the Red Deer General Hospital and lived his whole life in the Shady Nook area. Orville was a gentle man, close to the earth who had a special love and respect for all animals particularly his horses. In his younger years Orville loved sports and was an avid competitor, never one to sit on the sidelines. He also enjoyed music and played with the infamous band "The Sodbusters" for many years. To Orville there was nothing better than a good hard days work followed by two heaping plates of dinner and a slab of pie where the dinner conversations always included fits of laughter and joyful tears. He was very proud of his first job at T. Eaton Company and shared many stories of his experiences there with his co-workers. He also spoke fondly of his many years at Prairie Bus Lines hauling the neighborhood kids to school. They all held a special place in his heart. We will remember him for his even temperament, good humor, round-table political discussions but especially for his unconditional support and love. Orville is survived by his two sons Richard and George and their wives Jan and Brenda as well as grandchildren; Tanis and Duane Mofford, Tyson, Travis and Janel. Great grandchildren; Teneal, Deegan and Graden as well as Kaden, Kya and Payton. We'll miss our Dad and Grandpa, he was an honest, humble man and we love him dearly. A memorial tribute to Orville Gehrke will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 35, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer on Saturday, February 19, at 1:00 P.M.
