PARSONS Mrs. Helen Louise ‘Billie Gran’ Parsons (nee Carscadden) of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Harmony Care Home, Red Deer on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the age of 95 years. Helen was born on October 6, 1909 at Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Helen came to Red Deer in 1929 to visit her sister, Gilda, with a nurse’s uniform in hand. She commenced part-time work at the Parsons Clinic, where a young doctor began courting her, resulting in a long and happy marriage. She was a true matriarch with an indomitable spirit. Helen will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her family and very dear friends. Helen leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters, Ella Joy (John) Maybin of Calgary, Alberta, Gail Parsons, Heather Parsons (Doug Sharp) and Sally Parsons, all of Red Deer, her son, Bartley Parsons of Kimberley, British Columbia, her grandchildren, MacGregor and Sara Sharp of Red Deer, Tom Blades of Edmonton, Alberta and Michael (Bev) Blades of Red Deer, and her great grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Melissa Blades, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard MacGregor Parsons, a son, William, a daughter, Gilda and three sisters, Gertrude, Gilda and Gladys. In keeping with Helen’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Cremation has been entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Helen’s honour may be made directly to a Charity of the Donor’s choice. “Thank you” is not nearly enough to say to Dr. Konynenbelt and the staff of the Harmony Care Home for their love and outstanding care shown to our mother and grandmother.
