DICK, Pius Tony DICK

Pius Tony Dick, beloved husband of Katherine Dick of Red Deer, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at his home on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the age of 84 years. Pius was born on August 22, 1920 at Mendham, Saskatchewan. He was in the Royal Canadian Army and served overseas for four and one half years. After that time, Pius worked with the Canadian Pacific Railway stationed mainly between Red Deer and Didsbury, Alberta. He enjoyed that very much and eventually became foreman over that route. Pius was one of the kindest and most gentle persons one could ever hope to meet in their lifetime. He always had a happy smile that came from the heart and a glint in his eye. He made a great many friends along the way with his warm and caring personality. Pius was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa whose family meant the world to him. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed R-Ving, fishing, gardening and tending his flowers during the summer. He was a great craftsman as well and loved making woodworking handicrafts. Pius will be very deeply and sadly missed but lovingly remembered and always cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Pius leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Katherine, daughter, Lorraine (Karl) Martinek, sons, Wayne and Ron, five grandchildren, Sonia, Curtis, Kristina, Danelle and Desiree and four great grandchildren, Kyah, Jared, Aliyah and Kius. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Lena Salamandick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Pius was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Prayers will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. with The Reverend Father Donald Stein celebrant. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
